odo Privacy Policy
Effective: October 12, 2026
odo (the “app”) records your motorcycle rides and turns them into cards you can share. The app's operator does not collect information that identifies you, and does not collect your location or routes. There is no sign-up or login, and the operator runs no servers. Your rides are stored only on your device and in your own iCloud, and the operator cannot see them. The only thing the operator receives is anonymous usage statistics about how the app is used (section 1).
1. What the operator receives — anonymous usage statistics
To improve the app, we receive usage statistics that cannot be tied to you, through Google's analytics service (Google Analytics for Firebase).
| We receive | We do not receive |
|---|---|
| Which screens you open and which features you use | Name, email, phone number, account |
| The rough size of a ride (rounded km and minutes, in ranges) | Location, routes, start and end place names, ride times, speed |
| Settings (Auto-Detect Rides on or off, type of location permission, etc.) | Photos, videos, card contents |
| A random number created at install (app instance ID) | Advertising identifier, device serial numbers |
| Device model, iOS version, app version, language, country-level region |
- It cannot identify you. The app instance ID is a random number that is not linked to any name or account, and it disappears when you delete the app.
- It is not used for ads or tracking. The app does not read the advertising identifier and does not combine this data with data from other apps or websites. We do not sell personal information.
- Who processes it: Google LLC (Google's servers, including in the United States). Data is sent over the internet while you use the app and is deleted after a set period under Google's settings (2 months by default).
- To stop sending statistics, delete the app. Because we cannot tell users apart, we cannot pick out and delete one user's statistics.
2. Information handled on your device
The app needs the information below to work, but all of it is processed on your device.
| Information | Purpose | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Location (GPS coordinates, altitude, speed, time) | Recording your route, distance, time and climb | Your device, your own iCloud |
| Start and end place names, the day's weather | Shown on rides and cards | Your device, your own iCloud |
| Photos and videos you pick | Used as card backgrounds | Not copied into the app (they stay in Photos) |
| App settings (weather display, etc.) | Keeping your settings | Your device |
3. When location is used
- While recording a ride: location is recorded from the moment you tap “Start Ride” until you finish (while paused at a stop, location is checked to notice when you move again). Location is also used in the background so recording continues with the screen off or in other apps; a “Recording” indicator appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
- Weather on the home screen: location is checked once to show the weather where you are.
- Auto-Detect Rides (optional, off by default): works only if you turn it on and set location access to “Always”. While it is on, the app keeps checking your approximate location (Wi-Fi and cell level) even when it is not on screen, to see whether you have left the spot where you parked. GPS stays off during this. When you have moved away, GPS turns on briefly to check for riding speed; if it looks like a ride, recording starts and you get a “Ride detected — recording started” notification. A ride started this way is not added to your rides or total distance until you confirm it in the app with “Keep Recording” or “Save”. “Not a Ride” deletes it right away, and if you choose nothing it is deleted 24 hours after it stops. Like all rides, an unconfirmed ride stays only on your device and in your own iCloud and is never sent to the operator. The rest of the app works normally without this feature, and you can turn it off at any time.
You can change location access at any time in Settings → odo → Location.
4. Information passed to Apple services
The app uses services provided by Apple for the features below. Coordinates are sent to Apple for these, and Apple's privacy policy applies. The operator does not receive this information.
- Weather (Apple Weather): weather for your current location or a ride's start and end
- Maps and place names (Apple Maps): map images on cards, start and end place names
- iCloud backup: if you are signed in to iCloud on the device, your rides are backed up automatically to private storage in your own iCloud. They are restored on devices signed in with the same Apple Account, and no one else, including the operator, can view them.
5. Sharing
A card leaves your device only when you tap “Share to Story”, “Save” or “Share” yourself. The finished card image or video is then passed to the app you choose (for example, Instagram), and that service's policy applies from there. You can choose on the card screen whether to show start and end place names and speed on the card.
6. Retention and deletion
- Rides are kept on your device and in your own iCloud until you delete them.
- Delete one ride: press and hold the ride, then choose “Delete”. It is also removed from the iCloud backup.
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes the rides on the device. A backup left in iCloud can be deleted in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → odo.
- The operator does not hold your rides, so there is no data held by the operator to request deletion of.
7. Permissions
| Permission | Why it is needed | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Location (While Using the App) | Recording ride routes, weather | Rides cannot be recorded |
| Location (Always) | Auto-Detect Rides (optional) | Only Auto-Detect Rides is unavailable |
| Notifications | Stop and ride-detection alerts | You will not get alerts |
| Photos (Add Only) | Saving finished cards to Photos | Only saving is unavailable |
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 (under 14 in Korea) and does not collect children's personal information.
9. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, it is posted on this page with the effective date. Any change that increases the information the operator receives (for example, adding login or community features) will be announced before the app update.
- October 12, 2026: started receiving anonymous usage statistics (section 1).
